Announcing Rebecca Ferguson and Kristen Epps, new Staff!
The Forest School is happy to announce two new Staff members! Rebecca Ferguson is our new Administrator and Apprentice Guide and Kristen Epps is our college intern.
Born and raised in Australia, Rebecca is still very new to the USA but now calls Georgia home.
Rebecca began her career as a nurse, working for nonprofit organizations including the Australian Red Cross. While working as a nurse, Rebecca’s main focus was in mental health, crisis management and advocacy, particularly with young people or individuals in high risk environments. She also discovered a passion for education and how vital it is to individual growth and holistic health.
After nursing for some years Rebecca left Australia to travel and continue volunteer work with animal welfare and rescue groups (her other passion!) Notably the rescue and rehabilitation of Asian elephants from the logging and tourism trade.
Before coming to the US, Rebecca began managing medical clinics alongside nursing duties and once in the US, progressed into a purely management role.
Outside of work Rebecca happily spends most of her time with her family and exploring the US with her husband.
Kristen Epps is a senior at Kent State University with a major in Educational Studies and double minor in Special Education and Human Development and Family Studies. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and found herself at Kent State in Ohio because of scholarships, wanting to live far from home, and being spontaneous in wanting to experience a different culture. Her professional choices have led her to seek a career working with the youth, and she has always had a passion for teaching and interacting with children. While enrolled at Kent State, she has been exposed to many different people, things, and ideas which has led her to seek this opportunity at a nontraditional school. Currently, she is on track for graduating during the Fall of 2020!
Post graduation, she anticipates obtaining a job in the education field, and is currently looking into furthering her education to pursue a master’s degree.
