Apprenticeships
At The Forest School, the walls are “porous," which means that learning happens both inside and outside of the school building. Apprenticeships are real-world learning experiences where learners rub shoulders with—and are given meaningful work by—industry professionals. Apprenticeships start in Elementary School and continue through High School.
Learners who are at The Forest School through Elementary, Middle, and High School will have completed 20+ apprenticeships by the time they graduate.
The best part? Whereas in traditional K12 apprenticeship programs, adults find apprenticeship opportunities for students, at The Forest School the learners themselves complete 100% of the process to research, connect, fulfill, and reflect on their apprenticeship experience. All of these experiences "count" as school credit, grow learners' professional networks, and ultimately give learners the confidence to navigate the marketplace on their own.
