10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Blast off!!!!!!

Kindness and patience blasted the Spark studio into orbit this week with a fiery blast as we signed our contracts and pledged to follow the promises we made to ourselves and each other!

Gravity is the only thing holding us to planet earth as we are gearing up, training, and building our rocket to launch into space and begin our discoveries of the moon, stars, planets, galaxies, and beyond!

Session 3 is off to a fantastic start after our Contract Signing Ceremony on Monday!

The heroes participated in several team building activities and games before signing their names onto the Contracts that they created. The heroes thoroughly enjoyed being in nature, taking it all in and not wasting any opportunities for collaboration, new ideas, and fun!

We also introduced our Financial Literacy Quest, "The Game of Life.” Throughout the course of the session, heroes will learn and understand the value of a dollar and just how far they can stretch it. Our focus for Civilization has shifted this session as we traverse and explore ancient Asian cultures.

With the changing of the seasons, we can easily track our heroes’ growth as they take another trip around the sun. We can also track their growth and progress by viewing their badge plans! Don’t forget to sign up for a Parent-Guide Conference! See the links in your email to reserve your slot!

Throughout human history, the number three has always had unique significance…but why? The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras postulated that the meaning behind numbers was deeply significant. In their eyes, the number three was considered as the perfect number—the number of harmony, wisdom and understanding. Welcome to Session 3! This Session’s character virtue is Respect. When learners came back from their break they where pumped up and dressed to impress for their first annual school pictures. Heroes came to school looking amazing with all smiles representing The Forest School. Unfortunately, we had some heroes who weren't able to show up but we will have another picture day in the spring.

This session one new Phoenix has joined our Studio, and the heroes have welcomed him with open arms. Maya Angelou once said, “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” On Tuesday, learners and Guides headed to Camp Southern Ground for their Contract Signing. Learners where so excited to be outside the Studio and came together through team building, games, sing along, nature walks, and other fun activities. Heroes new and returning reflected on the importance of Contract Signing and the power of our words. Words matter!

Each hero went up one by one and signed their Studio Contract and received a small journal as a gift to write down their desire, dreams, and goals. As the rest of the week goes by, learners finalized their Apprenticeship search and locked in dates and times by which they want to complete tasks. Lastly, welcome to the Session 3 Quest, Financial Literacy! In this Quest learners are going to deeply explore potential college and career pathways, salary and income flows, how to prepare for and pay taxes, budgeting and saving strategies, and how to invest for retirement. Learners will plan together and present to their Dream Teams at Exhibition. Let’s get pumped and get enthusiastic for this session!

Welcome back, all!

We are all ready for Session 3! This session, our heroes were assigned new running partners, and held another Reflection Day with their partners. In Journey Tracker, there are a few reflection questions that are designed to refresh their minds and get them back into “work mode.” The rest of the week placed an emphasis on Core Skills, and Check-In's.

Tuesday was spectacular as it was Contract Signing day at Camp Southern Ground! There were many team building activities between the Studios, a ton of social interaction, signing of Contracts, and dinner. At the end of the night, everyone left freezing cold, but full of motivation and smiles. On Wednesday, we dove into Quest: Financial Literacy. This Quest is truly going to have some heroes take a deep dive into adulthood, and solve many adult problems ahead of time! On Thursday, our heroes hosted some awesome launches, captivating the Studio and pushing past comfort zones, way to go heroes! We ended the week with Quest, and Civ. As usual, Civ was heated and sacred. Heroes thoroughly expressed themselves without judgement, and with respect towards each other's differences in viewpoints.

All in all it was a great productive week!
