The Surprising Summer Day
by The Ants
Hadley and Fletcher Murfet, Auggie and Elliott Wren, Clay and Hannah Murfet, and Christina and Demetrius Wren
One summer day, children were playing outside when they heard a BIG STOMP! Suddenly, a giant stick bug jumped out of a tree. He was looking for his best friend, a cricket. The cricket had gone to the movies, so the stick bug decided to join him there. Together, they enjoyed their time and lived happily ever after.
The End
Thank you for everything you do. We wish you a safe, happy, and healthy time filled with joy and rest. See you soon, refreshed and ready for the adventures ahead!

Lower Elementary spent the week preparing for our Marine Biology Exhibition, including presenting to and receiving expert feedback from Dr. Anne Lindsay, Associate Director of Marine Education for the UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant. Dr. Lindsay was a phenomenal resource for our learners, and we deeply appreciate her generosity in serving as our Marine Biology Expert.
The UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant encompasses the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium, as well as the camps and programs run throughout the year and summer by Georgia Sea Grant. If your family is looking for another Marine Biology adventure, please use the provided links or reach out for more information.
Lower Elementary would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the families and friends who attended our Marine Biology Exhibition. We have spent time reflecting on your feedback to see how we can continue to grow and build on our skills—thank you for filling out those exit surveys!
Please be on the lookout for our Friday Virtual Work Plan, and have a beautiful Thanksgiving Break!

This week marked an exciting milestone for our Studio as we held our Marine Biology Exhibition on Tuesday! A huge thank you to all the families and Dream Team members who joined us to celebrate the learners' hard work. Your presence and thoughtful feedback mean so much to us and our heroes.
The feedback from the Exhibition has been an invaluable tool for reflection. Together, we’ve taken the time to assess our achievements and identify areas for growth. In addition, we also completed our 360 surveys.
These surveys are a vital part of our learning journey, providing each learner with the opportunity to reflect on themselves and their fellow heroes. They focus on key pillars such as learning to learn, learning to be, learning to do, and learning to live together.
Receiving and giving feedback can sometimes be challenging, but our learners demonstrated incredible maturity in taking it in stride. They’re using this feedback as an opportunity to set personal improvement goals, showcasing resilience and a growth mindset.
We are so proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see how they use these insights to continue their journey as heroes. Here’s to another week of hard work and self-discovery!

Weekly Newsletter: Highlights from Our Heroes' Week
What an incredible week we’ve had! Here’s a snapshot of the inspiring work our learners accomplished as they wrapped up this session:
Monday:
The week kicked off with a burst of creativity during Quest! Heroes reviewed expert feedback on their projects, made thoughtful revisions, and participated in their first exhibition run-through. Their dedication to refining their work was truly inspiring to witness!
Tuesday:
Tuesday was a mix of innovation and exploration. Learners completed their YouScience testing, gaining valuable insights into their skills and interests. They also channeled their creativity to finalize and share their anime-inspired artwork and writing, showcasing their unique styles and storytelling talents.
Wednesday:
We began the day by voting on our favorite Public Service Announcements to feature at the Exhibition—a tough decision with so many excellent options! Later, learners completed a second New Haven run-through to ensure they were fully prepared for the big night.
Wednesday Night:
Exhibition night was a resounding success! Learners stepped into the role of environmental consultants, presenting their proposals to improve water quality at Panola State Park to parents and guests. Their confidence and depth of knowledge shone brightly as they shared their ideas.
Thursday:
We closed the session with a focus on reflection and growth. Heroes revisited their session goals, sent thoughtful check-in emails to parents, and participated in peer approvals. They also reviewed feedback from the Exhibition surveys, analyzed the data, and created unique products to illustrate their findings. These included podcast recordings, comic strips, posters, and even role-play skits. Finally, learners reflected on their learning journey and celebrated their achievements this session.
This week was a testament to the hard work, creativity, and perseverance of our learners. From diving into environmental science to expressing their creativity and analyzing feedback, they exemplified what it means to be self-directed learners and thoughtful contributors to our world.
We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish next!

This week was a huge success, especially with our much-anticipated exhibition! Our heroes amazed everyone with their creativity and teamwork during the cooking challenge. Using the random ingredients purchased by the guides, they crafted culinary masterpieces that the audience absolutely loved. It was a fantastic way to showcase what they’ve been learning and to put their skills to the test.
In Story Arts, we continued exploring branding and the impact of social media platforms. Our heroes are developing a strong understanding of how brands grow and connect in the digital world. Their insights are deepening as we approach the end of the session.
In Civilization, we engaged in insightful discussions comparing foods across the world with those common in the U.S. From preservatives and additives to authentic, traditional flavors, our heroes are gaining a global perspective on the foods we consume and their impact.
Now, we’re just one session away from Christmas break! With the finish line in sight, it’s more important than ever to stay focused, keep your head on straight, and push through to the end. Hang in there—Christmas is almost here!
Have a wonderful weekend, and let’s finish the year strong!
