Welcoming our Middle School Guide—Caleb Collier—to The Forest School team!
We are thrilled to announce that Caleb Collier will be Founding Middle School Guide at The Forest School!
Caleb grew up in Virginia, but has lived in Georgia long enough to consider it home. He has spent many years as a middle school teacher, but is a storyteller at heart. He got his start in education as a creative writing tutor to sixth graders in the Atlanta Public School system and has since taught in a multi-age, constructivist environment. Before finding his way into the classroom, Caleb served as Media Director and co-founder of Give Us Names, a nonprofit organization working alongside of displaced Colombians to share their stories. Currently, Caleb is pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Learning at Georgia State University with a research focus on Digital Storytelling. Caleb’s greatest passion (and greatest adventure) is his family, and he gladly spends most of his time with his wife and two daughters at their home in Grant Park, Atlanta.
Caleb emerged as the leading candidate for Middle School Guide after a thorough search. To date, we've received over 85 applications for the role of Guide from a high quality, diverse pool of candidates. Caleb joined us for a seven-hour in-person campus visit at Pinewood Forest during which he engaged with many stakeholder groups including our co-founders, multiple learners of The Forest School, volunteers, the CEO of Pinewood Forest, the CEO of Pinewood Atlanta Studios, and founding parents of The Forest School.
It is our experience that Caleb's character, keen intellect, servant mindset, social entrepreneurial acumen, endearing personality, and gentle spirit regularly make him a stand out in the communities he leads and in which he works.
The search for our Founding Elementary Guide is in process, and we look forward to making an announcement soon.
