We made it!! It has been a privilege and honor to guide our learners on their journey through The Forest School.

It’s been an emotional roller coaster at times, but roller coasters are thrilling and fun. We were able to dig deep to learn and understand each other through those “sweet emotions.” We are stronger together. We all heard it, SPARK FAMILIES ROCK! Thank you for trusting in us. We love how far we have come and look forward to the places we will go.

Upcoming:

  • Tuesday, May 30 - Field Day with Austin & Fantasia McGuffie (dress for physical activity). If you are coming, we may need your help to walk Heroes to and from the P.E. Olympics.

  • Wednesday - Studio Day (clean-up, pack, play, and finalize any unfinished work).

  • Thursday (LAST DAY) - Yearbook signing and Field trip to Grace Church. 8:30 drop-off at  164 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, GA 30214. Prompt 12:30 pick-up will take place at Grace Church. If you signed up to drive learners back to school, arrive at 12:30. Our 3:15 dismissal will be our regularly scheduled time and place. We can use 2-3 parent volunteers to stay with us for the duration. If you are available, please let us know via email at spark@theforest.school or in -person.

"Remember that no one is born a change-maker. It's something you become when you see a problem, then dare to become part of the solution."
-Melinda Gates

Can you believe our school year has come to an end? As we reflect over this past year, Heroes focused on building strong character traits and becoming young people with strong moral compasses. Our Exhibition this session focused on change-makers that our Heroes were inspired by. They "literally" stepped into the shoes of an individual that has had an impact on them and the world. It was amazing to see some of the great costumes and hear stories of how these people became change-makers.

The most inspiring thing for us was to learn "Why" our Heroes chose their change-maker. We learned that maybe they had things in common or wanted to go into the same field or even fight for the same causes. Watching our Heroes dive into the shoes of others allowed them to see just how they, themselves, could change the world.

Our Elementary Heroes are the future. They will become the next presidents, CEO's, scientists, explorers, entertainers, and even educators! We're excited to know this bunch of learners will lead us into the future. Before the year ends, we will spend our last days with lots of fun! Some important dates to remember:

  • Tuesday May 30th: PE Olympics

  • Thursday, June 1st: Urban Air field trip / Yearbook Signing

  • Friday, June 2nd: No School (Virtual Day)

"Education is the key that unlocks the door to endless possibilities. As we reach the end of this school year, let's celebrate our resilience and cherish the memories we've made along the way." - Unknown

As the school year draws to a close, learners are taking pride in completing another chapter of their educational journey. The recent Quest Exhibition on Wednesday showed remarkable creativity and teamwork. Learners stepped up to the challenge and showcased their incredible Escape Rooms, each filled with mind-boggling clues and puzzles that tested their problem-solving skills.

The excitement doesn't end there. The enthusiasm is palpable as we gear up for a fantastic week ahead. It's time for us to recharge our spirits and have some well-deserved fun. Heroes continued to wrap up their Core Skills block (Math, Reading, and Grammar) so they can earn their Badges for this year. Everyone has worked so hard that they will be rewarded with multiple activities, such as  Field Day, where friendly competitions will bring laughter and friendly rivalry to the forefront. Movie Day promises cozy screenings and shared enjoyment of our favorite films, fostering a sense of togetherness. Also, there will be a Pot Luck of awesome dishes made by Guides and Learners.

And then, the icing on the cake—a thrilling Field Trip to Urban Air, where we can soar through the air, bounce to our hearts' content, and revel in the joy of adventure. These activities not only reward our hard work but also serve as a reminder that learning goes beyond the classroom walls.

As we wrap up this school year, let's take a moment to reflect on the resilience and growth we've experienced. Challenges were met with determination, obstacles were overcome, and friendships were forged. We've learned that education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's about nurturing our curiosity, embracing setbacks, and finding the strength to persevere.

So, here's to all the learners who have thrived this year, showcasing their talents and embracing the spirit of adventure. Let's cherish the memories we've created and celebrate the resilience that carried us through. As we bid farewell to this chapter, we eagerly anticipate the bright future that awaits us.

This week has been incredibly productive! We dedicated our time to preparing for an Exhibition, diligently working on submitting our projects and making important decisions for the upcoming year.

On Monday, I, Mrs. A, devoted considerable effort to catching up with the studio, and boy, was there a lot to catch up on! Additionally, Tyler led his final launch with HS Studio, marking a significant milestone. Following that, we delved into Story Arts, where our Heroes wrapped up their skits by either writing them, filming them, or making those last-minute edits. Many Heroes have also made significant progress in completing the writing portion of their Quest and have sought necessary approvals.

In addition to our productive week, we also had some exciting collaborations and engaging discussions. We organized a brainstorming session where everyone contributed their creative ideas for future projects and initiatives. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and diverse perspectives within our team. Furthermore, we had a guest speaker visit our studio on Monday, actress, and comedian Ms. CoCo Jones, who shared valuable insights and experiences from her field. Coco sharing her experiences sparked lively conversations and motivated them to dig deeper into their work and apply their newfound knowledge.

Additionally, we began discussions about the upcoming year and made important decisions regarding the direction of our studio. We analyzed different opportunities, considered potential partnerships, and weighed the feasibility of various projects.

Overall, it was an eventful week filled with progress, creativity, and teamwork. We should all be proud of what they have accomplished this school year.
