It just takes a Spark to start a fire. Spark is on fire!

This past week has been filled with love and adventure. We recorded our song!!!!! Thank you to the Bashta Family and all of our wonderful parent volunteers. We love you.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo, and we can’t wait to share the Mexican Hat Dance with you at Exhibition. Our head of school took on a drum challenge from a 6-year-old Hero. It was awesome, and they both rocked the Spark studio.

Baby Watch 23 started with a great surprise party for our mothers-to-be and our big bros. Fun was had by all, and everyone was surprised. We did it … we kept the surprise!!!

Help us welcome Mollie Fillman to the family. She arrived on Wednesday, May 10th. Mom and Mollie are doing well. Our graduating Heroes are now visiting lower elementary, and they love it! We are so proud of them. Everyone is eager to do core skills, and we are all flying and/or soaring. Things are feeling in alignment.

Happy Mother’s Day! “A mother’s hug lasts long after she lets go.” —Unknown

"Learning is a constant process of discovery - A process without end." -Bruce Lee

It’s great to see how much our Heroes have been learning as they explore the growth of plants! We have been making observations as the seeds they planted last week begin to sprout. Growing plants is not the only important part of gardening. Heroes have learned about pollinators and are even in the process of watching a butterfly's metamorphosis. We plan to release our adult butterflies at the end of the school year!

In addition to learning about the growth of plants, Heroes have been working on their creative writing skills. We are participating in a writing competition that will result in the winners receiving an opportunity to go to Urban Air, a fun and exciting indoor adventure park. They will complete a creative writing piece that will go through all stages of the writing process. During this process, we are making sure to remind the learners that writing is a skill that takes practice and not to be afraid to try your best and let your creativity shine through.

We can’t wait to see what the learners come up with! This week in StoryArts, learners focused on overcoming obstacles and gratitude. We had an in-depth conversation about the value of education and the cultivation of will and determination. They then took these learnings and applied them to their Change Maker research by identifying obstacles their Change Maker had to overcome.

This was an insightful and heartwarming week. As we close these final weeks of school, we're thinking deeply about processes. What does it take to become a butterfly, a mature plant, a change maker? We can't wait to see the leaders our Heroes sprout into!

"Life is like a camera; focus on the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot!"

Hey there! Welcome to another exciting blog post where we'll delve into some seriously cool stuff that went down this week at Quest. Buckle up because it's about to get interesting!

First up, we kicked off the week with a visit to the Fayette County Police Department. Yes, you heard that right - we got to go behind the scenes and see what really goes on during an active crime scene. Our Heroes got a taste of what it's like to be a CSI investigator and learned about the different types of fingerprints and the various crimes they can help solve. But that's not all, folks! They even got to make and dust off their own fingerprints, as well as create a DNA structure using yummy candy. How cool is that?!

As the week went on, our Guides tested their knowledge with a verbal practical, and they crushed it! They showed off everything they had learned and had a blast doing it. Who knew learning about crime scenes could be so fun?

That's not all we've been up to this week. We've also been tackling the importance of writing, and our learners had the chance to finish up their persuasive essays. Not only that, but they also got to receive feedback from their peers. What better way to learn and grow than by collaborating with others and getting valuable input from those around you? It's all about teamwork!

In Story Arts, learners focused on overcoming obstacles and gratitude. We watched the trailer for On The Way To School, a documentary exploring the journey children worldwide have to make to get to school. Heroes watched as children their age set out on 1-4 hour journeys, some crossing rivers and others encountering lions along the way.

This led to an in-depth conversation about the value of education and the cultivation of will and determination. This discussion broadened the Heroes' perspective of their own lives and gave them insight into the lives of others. Every Hero spent time hand-writing full sentences about what they are grateful for and shared ways that they can use this new perspective to help them overcome obstacles and be more grateful.

So, there you have it, folks - a jam-packed week full of exciting adventures and lots of learning. At Quest, we're all about exploring new things and discovering the world around us. Whether it's delving into the science of crime scenes or perfecting our writing skills, we're always up for a challenge.

Stay tuned for more adventures to come!

What amazing work our high school Heroes accomplished this week!

They discussed the evolution of compensation, roles, and responsibilities in various careers, such as consulting, engineering, management, and event planning. Additionally, they learned jiu-jitsu self-defense and worked on writing statements of purpose, cover letters, resumes, and essays on community service.

Learners took a break from comedy to explore the realities of life. They watched the trailer for "On The Way To School," a documentary that follows the journeys children around the world have to make to get to school. This led to a meaningful conversation about the value of education, willpower, and determination.

After reflecting on things they are grateful for, the learners received one-on-one feedback on their scripts. They were encouraged to take their scripts to the next level by exploring more opportunities for comedy through character development and scene exploration. The questions "What else could happen..." or "What would happen if..." were posed to the writers, allowing them to explore the endless possibilities of comedic writing.

As always, =thank you for supporting our high school Heroes in their journey toward personal and academic growth!
