During this session of our Music Quest, learners have embarked on a captivating journey to explore the diverse sounds surrounding us and the emotions they evoke. Through engaging activities, they're discovering music's magical ability to paint vivid images in their minds and hearts. With a sprinkle of imagination, we're uncovering the hidden talents within each child, nurturing their creativity and passion for music and art.

As we delve into various music genres, from jazz to classical, we also unleash our creativity with inspired art projects. It's been a dynamic and multi-sensory experience, fostering our learners' love for music and art. Join us in witnessing their joy as they groove to the beat and paint with enthusiasm!"

Back into the groove and bursting with energy, our heroes have launched into another thrilling week at The Forest School!

This week's Quest kicked off with a bang as Olympic track runner and gold medalist Keisha Kirtz graced us with her presence. Not only is she a sports legend, but she's also the proud mother of one of our very own heroes, Isaiah Kirtz! Keisha shared riveting tales from her Olympic journey, delving into the secrets of proper running form and unveiling the mysteries of inertia. And what better way to cap off her visit than with an exhilarating race from our Guides, Ms. Mckenna, Brooke Harris, and Brooke Cook? The track was hot, the competition fierce, but in the end, the indomitable Brooke Cook (or Brooke Bolt) claimed victory. Bravo, Brooke!

Meanwhile, in the hallowed halls of Civilization, our heroes embarked on a historical odyssey through the annals of America's founding. They paid homage to the founding fathers with coloring pencils, meticulously crafting fact sheets that brought these towering figures to life. From there, it was a deep dive into the intricacies of the Articles of Confederation, The Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. But the real excitement came when our heroes were tasked with drafting their own 'Lunch Time' Bill of Rights. With creativity ablaze, they proposed rules and regulations fit for a lunchtime kingdom, culminating in a democratic vote to determine the top eight to grace the final Bill.

And who could forget the captivating tales spun in Story Arts? Our budding broadcast journalists honed their interview skills, grilling fellow heroes on their likes, dislikes, and deepest secrets (spoiler alert: sushi seems to be the reigning favorite! What happened to pizza?). And as if that wasn't enough, they tested their storytelling prowess by crafting attention-grabbing headlines for beloved fairy tales.

With the sun shining bright and spirits soaring high, our heroes are charging full steam ahead, eager to conquer whatever challenges lie ahead in this session. Stay tuned for more thrilling updates from the frontlines of heroism!

We’ve had another thrilling week in our Upper Elementary Studio. As you’re aware, our current quest involves delving into the fascinating world of biomechanics and physics related to Olympic Sports and Athletes.

This week, our learners had the extraordinary opportunity to meet and train with Olympic Gold Medalist and Forest School parent Kiesha Kurtz. This hands-on experience brought our studies to life and provided a unique perspective on the Olympic competition's physical demands and triumphs.
In addition, our heroes embarked on a journey to understand the biomechanics of the human body, exploring the intricacies of human anatomy and how it contributes to athletic performance.

In our Civics lessons, we’ve been navigating through some challenging aspects of U.S. history, specifically focusing on incidents of terrorism, including the Oklahoma City Bombing and the 9/11 Attacks. These are complex topics that require thoughtful discussion and understanding.
We encourage families to continue these discussions at home. To aid in this, we will provide kid-friendly resources from reputable museums and other reliable sources on these topics.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Here’s to another week of learning and growth!

In Quest, heroes dove into character analyses. They chose scripts, studied the characters they were playing, and then wrote about the scene's objectives, motivations, and relationships. Learners also predicted and analyzed the statistics of popular films’ gross box office revenue, opening weekend figures, and overall profitability of a film. They shared their findings and continued memorizing and rehearsing for film acting!

In Civ, heroes created games to quiz their fellow learners on present-day America. In Story Arts, we pitched our news article ideas in “The Bullpen” to our guest, Caleb Collier! He heard our pitches and gave real-time feedback, choosing some stories to run with and others to try again. Heroes immediately acted on the feedback and revised their articles and pitches, and then we came back together to process our takeaways and submit.

Our final council of the year was voted in! We are so excited for the progress and growth in leadership we have seen from the Council this year and are ready for them to take the reins even more and lead us on our victory lap of the last session.
