We are flying like a pterodactyl into the final week of Session 5!
Our theory of how the dinosaurs went extinct is taking on a life of its own through Story Arts. We can’t wait to share it with you at our Dino Quest Exhibition on Wednesday, February 15, from 4-5:30pm at The Shipyard. Time flies, and it will be here in no time.
Speaking of time, learners are working on their time-telling skills and discovering they can read the schedule to figure out where we are in our day. They are becoming good timekeepers. We ended the week with a beautiful and educational visit with a hero’s family. They educated us on the Korean Lunar New Year and gifted us a lovely book entitled “Tomorrow is a New Year’s Day” (Seollal - The Korean Lunar New Year) by author-illustrator Aran Kim.
We also used our sense of taste to sample delicious teas in preparation for our upcoming Valentine’s Day Tea. Thank you for taking the time to share and educate us.
The countdown is on ….

Child Labor!!! How dare they?
The Industrial Revolution brought about some changes to Europe and, eventually, North America. Some, like many of the inventions from this time, were good things, but even those good things led to some not-so-good changes. The elementary heroes worked in groups to research Inventions, Living Conditions, Child Labor, Factory Working Conditions, and School Reform during the Industrial Revolution and then presented the information they learned to their fellow heroes.
As we are wrapping up Quest, heroes are getting the opportunity to practice the skills of paleontologists. They have been given clues to discover what dinosaur fossils they uncover. All the knowledge they've learned throughout the Quest is on full display, and you will get a chance to witness them in action during Exhibition next week!
Our TV Episodes scripts are coming to life, and before heroes present to an expert, we have moved from the "writers’ room" to "Cutting Room Floor.” Heroes are getting peer feedback and have worked in small groups (formatting, grammar, and story arc) to perfect their final scripts. Make sure to ask your hero to tell you all about theirs!
Enjoy the weekend!

As we come to a close of Session 5 in a week, the studio has continued to push forward with all the tasks and challenges at hand; Quest, Civ, and Story Arts.
Each badge has been worked out tremendously by each learner. Learners have consistently met their daily learning goals when it comes to completing Core Skills. We rewarded the heroes that have done such with different incentives. As guides, we have created motivators that will keep this increase in workflow going.
This week went over the importance of proper research and how it can benefit you in society. During Quest, learners had to identify the purpose of their community gardens, find the stakeholders, determine plot fees and they had to figure out who their leader will be when it was time to put this in action.
In Civilization, learners are breaking down the importance of The Harlem Renaissance. This week heroes worked on the Music aspect of the Harlem Renaissance. As a challenge, they took different songs from the 1920s vs. now and see which songs sound familiar. In this challenge, they got to experience DJ life by mixing similar songs from that time period. They all enjoyed this challenge, and Friday, we will see what everyone will showcase.
Story Arts will continue Monday, where they will submit their scripts and receive feedback. Exhibition is also next week, Feb 15, 2023 at 6pm where learners will walk you through their Seedify Garden Quest.

We're in the home stretch, Week 6! Just one more week to go!
On Monday, we dug our heels in deep with Quest. Our heroes did extensive research in preparation for our clients who are coming to Exhibition. Many explored the deep world of finances in a way they've never explored before, and yes, the knowledge gained during these challenges is for Exhibition, but can be carried with them for years to come, especially considering most of them are going to be entrepreneurs!
Story Arts is coming along just great, scripts are almost complete! Ms. Q will visit the Studio one last time to teach the final steps of TV script writing, and then it's the grand reveal! We will host a table reading of each group's scripts in the studio next week, and the winner will have their scripts sent to Jeff Stepakoff! How exciting!
Lastly, Civilization is requiring a ton of research on various topics, which is great! We're taking this opportunity to help our heroes who are going to college practice researching and taking notes per their request. We are also prepping for Exhibition. There will be a couple of different elements added to this one, so it will last a bit longer than normal, but it will be well worth the time.
We have had several experts come in over the course of 6 weeks to give critical feedback to the heroes over their work and 1 awesome field trip. By Exhibition, they should truly be experts themselves. Thus, Quests' mission is accomplished!
