Can you believe our first mission is complete! Thank you for joining our tribe during Exhibition. We had so much fun planning, preparing, and sharing the joys of learning with you. We hope you made a new friend. This is just the beginning of building our super power tribe and we are certain it has been filled with every emotion as we get to know each other.

We are in an ebb and flow state as we discover how this tribe intertwines through its intricate details. We are intrigued by curiosity and are excited to find out where our next “magical” mission will take us!
May you have a joyful and restful week off.

Spark to ground control: “MISSION COMPLETE!”
Ground Control: “BADGE APPROVED! CONGRATULATIONS!”

What a session!

After our successful Hogwarts Exhibition, heroes are ready for their well-deserved break. This first session was filled with lessons on collaboration, communication, and tons on new, fun experiences! We’ve made podcasts and potions, studied the uses of plants and herbs in herbology, made magic wands and broomsticks in Art, and even made our own videos using a green screen!

As we close this week, heroes have had Check-Ins with their Guides to ensure that they are acclimating to life in the Studio, and we are happy to report that everyone is doing well so far! We are so proud of our heroes and their willingness to tackle challenges head on.

After Session 1, we are certain that next session will be a “freeze” …oops, we meant breeze! See you next Session!

John Dewey once said, “ We don’t learn from our experiences, we learn from reflecting on our experience.” With that being said, we made it to the end of the session! Session one is complete. Heroes have learned so much about each other through our Build the Tribe and belonging activities. Looking inward, this session the Studio began “silent Core Skills” to ensure that each hero has to opportunity to get into flow and crush their work. We will continue this throughout the year.

This week heroes completed their first “New Haven,” which means practicing for Exhibition to ensure that they felt comfortable with showcasing the information learned throughout Quest. During Exhibition, they all did their best and learned from each other! Exhibition was an eye opening experience for the newcomers and their families. It showed that they were extremely proud of the growth of their learners.

Refection Day is a great opportunity for heroes to be vulnerable with themselves, their peers, and grow as a self-directed learner. With this Session coming to a close, learners reflected on how this session made them feel, what they expected to happen versus what actually happened, what went well versus what we can improve upon next time, and what they will take from the experience in order to improve for the remainder of the school year.

To end the week, heroes learned about the Badge Approval process in order earn their very first badges for session one. How exciting for them to get their well deserved badge based on their excellent work!
Looking forward to next Session, the Studio will implant more structure with Freedom Levels where heroes will gain freedoms as they truly learn what it means to be a self-directed learner. Remember, the mission of the school is that every Hero that enters our doors will find their calling. We are one step closer to heroes finding their purpose, this is no easy task.

Enjoy your break and see you Session two starting September 12, 2022!

Last Friday one of our heroes had the brilliant idea to change our focus for the exhibition! We spent a few hours drafting what that would look like, and once we were all in agreement, the revamping began. Instead of Quest, the learners decided to focus on Story Arts and showcase the music videos that they have been working so hard on since the beginning of the session . The learners had Monday and all of Tuesday to pull this off. This included organizing the layout of the groups, and finishing footage that was not completed. Although it was time sensitive, we got it done!

The exhibition was a resounding success! The feedback from the experts and audience was all the proof we needed to confirm how well we all thought the exhibition went. Wednesday was reflection day and we thought deeply about the following questions; What did we expect to happen? What actually happened? What went well? What can we improve on? On Thursday our heroes decompressed, and used their remaining time to tie up any loose ends for session 1.

Enjoy your well deserved break!
