We are thrilled to welcome our new Math Guide to The Forest School—Rhonda Perry!

Rhonda Perry

Math Guide

Originally from Alabama, Rhonda moved to Georgia in 1994 after graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. She began her teaching career in Coweta County and spent 22 of her 30 years in education at Northgate High School.

In 2001, while raising her young family, Rhonda earned a Master of Mathematics Education from Georgia State University. Throughout her career, she taught learners from 8th grade mathematics through Pre-Calculus and played an active role in school life beyond the classroom, serving as a cheerleading coach, prom coordinator, junior class sponsor, Beta Club sponsor and math team coach.

Rhonda believes that learners learn mathematics most deeply when they feel known, trusted, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. She views her role not as the source of answers, but as a guide who asks thoughtful questions, listens carefully, and helps learners develop perseverance and confidence through meaningful problem solving. By creating an environment where curiosity is valued and mistakes are seen as part of the learning process, she supports learners in building both mathematical understanding and self-direction. Rhonda is passionate about contributing to The Forest School’s innovative approach by refining its mathematics program while honoring each learner’s unique strengths, interests, and pace of growth.

As a person that is always searching for the best practices in teaching, Rhonda is deeply passionate about becoming an integral part of The Forest School community. Just as important to her is the chance to truly know each learner as an individual—understanding how they think, learn, and grow—so she can support them as confident, capable problem solvers.
