If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?

We’re excited to share our theme for the 2022-2023 school year! This year, our theme comes in form of a quote from a great thinker and spiritual leader…

If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
— Rabbi Hillel

What a great set of questions to ask yourself!

In Rabbi Hillel’s quote, we can see the story of self, the story of us, and the story of now. Who are we becoming? How are we for others? And how and why must we act now?

For each session, learners and Guides will explore—and practice—the following virtues as we discuss this theme…

  1. Curiosity

  2. Motivation

  3. Respect

  4. Civility

  5. Responsibility

  6. Honesty

  7. Resilience

As we grapple with these seven virtues, we’ll ask questions like What is the right thing to do at the right time in the right place and in the right amount? and How might we give thanks when we see others live out the above virtues?

It’s going to be a great year!
