Born and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin, Brittney is an experienced outdoor educator, mentor, counselor, coach, youth advocate, and former college athlete. Brittney graduated with a BA in social work from Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), where she was a part of the Women’s Basketball team. Post-graduation, she worked as Teen Leadership Coordinator for Lake Valley Camp, a nonprofit serving inner-city youth in Milwaukee. It was during this time that she developed her passion for connecting outdoor education, team building, and everyday life skills. Brittney also worked for Southwest Key Programs as the Mentor Recruitment Specialist where she ran the Mentoring Program, regularly connecting youth to passionate, positive, and caring adults and opportunities in the community. Brittney has a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Experiential Learning and Development from Plymouth State University. She has made it her life mission to use positivity and humility to impact each person she encounters so that they may in turn do the same for someone else.

Brittney emerged as the leading candidate for the Founding High School Guide role after a national search. To date, we've received over 160 applications for Guide roles from a high quality, diverse pool of candidates. Brittney joined us for an in-person campus visit at during which she engaged with many stakeholder groups including our learners, parents, prospective families, and co-founders of The Forest School. Throughout the interview process, we came to see that Brittney is a relatable, compassionate, energetic learner, coach, and leader who loves young people and who values forward-thinking education and youth development. In addition, her experience working in mentor recruitment and completing a Masters in Experiential Learning and Development positions her to help The Forest School high school create hands-on learning experiences, connect with external experts, and lead various administrative functions for the school.

Please join us in welcoming Brittney to The Forest School!
