reflection, perseverance and commitment

Check out this week’s updates…

We find ourselves in the final chapter of the school year. It’s true, time really does fly when you are having fun!

In this session, we will focus on tying up loose ends. We begin by inviting you in for an “optional” silent observation this upcoming week for you to witness the studio in live action.

Just because you see does not mean you observe.  The difference between seeing and observing is fundamental to many aspects of life. Observation is more than simply seeing something, but rather a mental process involving both visual and thought.

Imagine the communication that will take place during conference time. A conference sign-up email will be forthcoming.

“To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe.”

Congratulations! You have made it to the end of another session, which is something to be proud of.

This past Quest session was undoubtedly a journey of growth and learning, and I'm sure you can reflect on the numerous experiences and knowledge gained. One significant aspect of the Quest program is the feedback and peer reviews learners receive from their fellow participants and special guests.

Throughout the session, learners had the opportunity to receive feedback from a diverse group of special guests, including industry professionals, academics, and experts. These individuals provided valuable insights and critiques on learners' projects, helping them improve their work and develop their skills. Peer reviews also played a crucial role in the learning process, allowing learners to engage with each other's work, provide constructive feedback, and receive feedback in return.

The importance of feedback cannot be overstated, and the exhibition at the end of each session provides a perfect opportunity for learners to receive feedback from a broader audience. Exhibiting one's work is a vulnerable experience, but it allows learners to showcase their hard work and receive feedback from a diverse group of people. Feedback can help learners identify areas of improvement, celebrate successes, and better understand their work's impact.

As learners reflect on the end of another Quest session, take some time to consider the feedback and peer reviews you received. Use this feedback as a tool for growth and improvement, and continue to challenge yourself to push beyond your limits in the next session.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill.

This quote perfectly encapsulates the spirit of resilience demonstrated by the learners this year. They have faced numerous challenges but have kept pushing forward and have not given up.

Now that we’re coming to the end of the school year, it's time to reflect on all the hard work and dedication that has been put in by the learners.

It's been a challenging year for everyone, but they have shown resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. They should be incredibly proud of themselves for making it to the year's last session.

During this session, the learners have explored the world of CSI and the procedures used to solve different crime scenes and investigations. This has been an exciting and engaging Quest, allowing them to develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. They have learned how to analyze evidence, collect data, and draw conclusions from their findings.

In Civilization, they learned about the Poison Pump during the outbreak of the Germ Theory. This historical investigation allowed them to tie together their investigation skills and try to uncover the cause of the Poison Pump in London. This type of interdisciplinary learning allows for a deeper understanding of the material and helps the learners make connections between different subjects.

As the learners finish their last few days of the school year, they are also starting to complete their AAR, which stands for the After Action Review. This process allows them to reflect on their learning throughout the year, identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, and set goals for the future. It's an essential step in the learning process, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and continue to grow and develop.

In conclusion, the learners should be incredibly proud of themselves for making it to the year's last session. They have shown resilience, perseverance, and dedication throughout the year. As they complete their AAR and look towards the future, they should remember the quote from Winston Churchill and continue to push forward, never giving up on their goals and dreams.

You won't believe what your high schoolers have been learning this past week.

As always, our focus has been on providing a diverse and engaging learning experience that not only helps your hero academically but also prepares them for the real world.

Here's what was on tap...Throughout the week, heroes learned about self-defense tactics and principles, wrote comedy skits for Saturday Night Live, and reviewed successful Harvard admissions essays. They also wrote an outline for their own "statement of purpose" and outlined their most significant community service to date.

Additionally, they engaged in thoughtful discussions about the cultural differences that some immigrants feel in new settings. Finally, Jilea Hemmings, a parent, and entrepreneur, provided students with valuable career advice.

Overall, it has been an exciting week filled with numerous learning opportunities for your hero.We aim to create an inclusive, inspiring environment where heroes can learn and grow. We're pleased that high schoolers enthusiastically engaged in these activities that not only challenged their intellect but also developed their life skills.

Thank you for entrusting us with your hero's education, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with excellent learning experiences!
