FLOW: Feel, Love, Outshine, Woop, there it is! Spring Awakening at Spark Studio: A Season of Creativity and Growth.

With the arrival of spring, our beloved Spark Studio has come alive with the vibrant energy of renewal. As the sun's warm rays filter through the windows, illuminating every corner with golden light, we find ourselves inspired by the promise of new beginnings. This season, we celebrate the beauty of life in all its forms, starting with the enchanting sight of baby chicks hatching right before our eyes. Each tiny peep resonates with the potential for creativity and discovery that awaits us in the Studio. Bunny Visits and Garden Flourishing:

Nature's wonders extend beyond the walls of our Studio, as evidenced by the delightful visits from our furry friends – the bunnies. Their playful antics and gentle presence remind us to embrace the joys of spontaneity and curiosity, essential to nurturing our creative spirit. Meanwhile, outside in our flourishing garden, the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and lush greenery serve as a source of inspiration, inviting us to explore the beauty of the natural world through our art. Tying Music Genres with Art Genres:

At Spark Studio, we believe in the power of interdisciplinary exploration, where art and music intertwine to create a symphony of expression. This spring, we embark on a journey to explore the connections between different music genres and art genres, uncovering how they complement and enrich each other. From the lively rhythms of jazz-inspiring dynamic brushstrokes to the serene melodies of classical music guiding delicate pencil sketches, we seek to weave together the diverse tapestry of artistic expression. As we embrace the season of renewal and growth, let us immerse ourselves fully in the wonders of spring. Together, let's cultivate a community of creativity and exploration, where every stroke of the brush, every note played, and every moment shared is infused with the essence of new life and endless possibilities. Welcome to spring at Spark Studio – where creativity knows no bounds!

What a start to the new session! We began the week by introducing 2 new Guides in Lower Elementary: Mrs. Brooke Harris and Mr. Kenynon Webster (Mr. K.). They are excited to be a part of The Forest School family and look forward to growing with the learners and TFS Family. Welcome, Brooke and Kenynon!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN! Our heroes have taken the first step to becoming scientific athletes as we introduced the Physics Olympics as our Quest theme. Our heroes created olive wreaths and torches to commemorate the kick-off of our quest. We explored the history of The Olympics and what each ring color represents. The heroes held an opening ceremony by parading from the Elementary Studio to Spark to show their wreaths and torches. Heroes will demonstrate their knowledge of physics concepts related to Olympic sports, specifically equipment, body movement, and biomechanics, in our Exhibition. You can look forward to heroes explaining the physics behind each movement and which muscle groups are engaged in these Olympic sports: basketball, track, long jump, discus, and tumbling.

In Story Arts, heroes became broadcast journalists of FNN (Forest News Network) and provided us with breaking news of what they did over Spring Break. They then had to put on their thinking caps as they read an excerpt from Encyclopedia Brown's ‘The Case of Natty Nut’ and used clues to determine the culprit. The session will wrap by having learners record a news broadcast, including weather, investigative journalism, sports, good news, a bulletin, and a wellness segment.

In Civilization, we learn why immigrants wanted to come to America. The heroes watched a video on the colonization of America and were asked to draw a boat they would want to sail to America on. Each hero named their boat and gave a resource they were coming to America for (money, freedom, land, etc.).

Spring is upon us! Cheers to warmer weather and longer days. We are back from Spring Break and ready to hit the ground running in this last Session!

Welcome back to school and to our last session of the year! As you know, our overarching quest theme for the year has been the exploration of physics. This week, learners prepared to "go for the gold" in The Forest School Olympics! Over the next few weeks, learners will engage with the history of the Olympic Games from ancient to modern times, the biomechanics of athletics, and the physics involved in various Olympic sports. For our Story Arts, our heroes have been deputized as Junior Journalists. They will take on the role of investigative journalists to practice their writing and interviewing skills, as well as put into practice the ethics that guide the field of journalism. Conference signups are out, so please make sure to reserve your spot. If you need an alternative day and time, please reach out to Gage directly. Have a great weekend and a happy Session Seven!

middle school studio

Lights, camera, action! Heroes stepped into the spotlight and introduced Acting as our Quest theme. Heroes will discover the secrets behind becoming a film sensation, learn the art of stage combat, and spar safely with expert guidance. On top of that, they will unleash their inner stars as you explore the magic of stage acting with pros who live to perform! They will master the methods that make actors great. From Stanislavski to Meisner, they’ll be decoding the DNA of drama. They will analyze and embody characters so real they leap off the page. Finally, they will show off their new skills in epic group scenes with the audience cheering for an encore at the Exhibition!

In Story Arts, we introduced our new theme, “The Newsroom,” in which heroes will dive into the fast-paced and competitive environment of a newsroom. They will research and pitch news report ideas, revising based on the lens of the media network they serve. They will revise and rewrite several times, including feedback from experts and an online revision service called Writable. The session will culminate with a public livestream in which heroes read their final news report to our live Facebook audience.

In Civ, we've studied how America began in the past and how it has changed since then. In this last session, we'll learn about all that has happened or changed in America since the 1990s. From new technologies to cultural shifts, we'll explore the big events and developments that have shaped the country.

The spring weather has hit, and we are enjoying time in the sun, whether enjoying the breeze or working outside. We are refreshed from Spring Break and ready to tackle our learning with gusto!

high school studio

Hello All! So glad to be back in action!

Exciting changes are underway here in the Studio as we embrace a revamped session schedule designed for hero success.

We've organized our calendar to ensure every hero knows where they stand academically before summer. Seniors, juniors, and underclassmen have had personalized meetings to review their transcripts and set goals.

This week kicked off with Quest, diving into the world of fashion. Get ready for a fun exhibition showcasing our heroes' creativity!

Alongside Quest, we're exploring the art world in Story Arts and Civilization, with explosive challenges ahead.

As the school year winds down, attendance is crucial. We encourage all heroes to join us for the remaining learning, growth, community, and fun weeks!

Additionally, we're still seeking donations of fabric and sewing machines. If you have either of these items, please consider contributing them to our Studio. Your generosity will greatly benefit our Quest.

Thank you for your continued support. Enjoy your weekend!
